1839. A year of invention, discovery and marvel. A year that changed the way we look at the world. The year of the birth of photography. 2002. The present day. A journey in the chambers of a broken mind. The story of a photographer who has lost her memory and who discovers a heartbreaking secret through a single snapshot.
Written with Light, will be set in a transparent world in a sea of sand. It will combine Victorian illusion, childhood memories and live photographic processes revealed here for the first time. The audience will initially be allowed to wander amongst the outer chamber of the Undercroft where they will discover rooms housing strange and unexplained secrets: a field of poppies; a six foot rabbit; a room full of school desks. The second section tells the story of a young photographer who has lost her memory. Through her archive of photographs she tries to piece her life back together, discovering in the process a terrible secret.
