Vacant Possession archiveIt's Leeds in the mid Eighties and self-made man and 'plougher of the solitary furrow', Joe Sweeting is fast approaching seventy. He fears the ageing process and decides to tidy his chaotic existence by selling his cluttered house in Burley...and taking his own life. At half Joe's age, Gary Roebuck wants to get out from under his parents' feet and, against his better judgement, he mortgages his life away, even though this means getting a proper job! And then the trouble starts. Will Gary lend a helping hand in Joe's bizarre suicide attempts and will he ever have the house to himself. This wickedly intelligent yet heart-warming comedy features sophisticated language and an inflatable woman!
