Union of Shorts - Pub - Perseverance/Juror/Karaoke Nights/Someone's Son/Waterman/Horst Buchholz and Other Stories/Cocktail Conversation archiveEach year (for the past seven years), the Union has produced a season of new short plays. Throughout the year the Union is been busy encouraging people to put pen to paper and with each year that passes we have been delighted to discover more aspiring playwrights. This year we asked for writers to submit a play, no longer than half an hour in length. We received over 100 scripts and were overwhelmed by the quality. The Theme - Being a South London theatre in an area that's character is rapidly changing we thought it apt that we dedicate our season of new writing to that great British institution - The Pub. Unfortunately, an institution that is soon to be a faint memory, replaced by magnolia walls, stripped pine furniture and euro beers. Come and enjoy this selection of quirky, funny and moving pint sized plays, all presented for your pleasure... and then have a drink in the bar.
