Twelfth Night with Comedians archiveIt's the twelfth day of Christmas, and in Olivia's country house the festivities are still in full swing. The booze flows and the music jumps, in spite of clean-living Malvolio's attempts to quell the party. Viola is a lonely activist on the run from the authorities, searching for her brother. Among the heaped bin bags of a prolonged festive revelry - with seasoned pisshead Toby Belch at the helm - she finds the perfect place to hide. Shakespeare's text has been abridged for a very 2016 take on this classic story of love, drink, mistaken identity and a prank taken way too far. Directed by two-times Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Liam Williams and former artistic director of Boundless Theatre, Matt Bulmer, and featuring the finest comic talent to be found upon this sceptre isle, this second one-time-only staging is slightly bigger and slightly better than the last one.
