Tuesday at BE Festival - One Minute of Time 4 Yourself/How to Make a Living As An Artist/Next Door archiveThis performance forms part of BE FESTIVAL: a fortnight-long feast of European culture. One Minute of Time 4 Yourself - One minute of silence to mourn and contemplate all the time we lost and wasted. We always seem to be very conscious and cautious how we spend our money. A penny saved is a penny earned, and we know we can only spend our money once. We don't want to waste our valuable money, even though we realize that what is most valuable to us mostly is 'priceless'. But are we as conscious about spending our time? Or are we just wasting our time making money? Do we truly understand that an hour spent is an hour gone forever? There's always the option to earn more (or less) money. But our time on this planet is limited and we can never earn more time. An hour wasted is an hour wasted forever. But not all our hours are wasted. Sometimes our life is ticking away to the rhythm of the clock, but sometimes life ticks in harmony with the heartbeat of our Soul. Sometimes we create magic. And those timeless hours seem to last forever. Sometimes, forever might even last just one second. But no matter how long forever lasts, there's always that moment when the clock strikes back and that priceless and timeless moment is gone. And before our very own eyes we see ?Forever' disappearing into the big black hole of time gone past. How to Make a Living as an Artist - Each company appearing in last year's programme nominated one of their number to stay behind for a week to join our transient, multi-national company-in-residence and begin making a new show. This year, the BE Mix artists return to work at The REP and mac for a fortnight, in time to welcome you to BE FESTIVAL 2014 with the fruits of their labour. Devised in collaboration with Spanish director, Carlos Aladro, and drawing inspiration from resident visual artist Dadara's research, How To Make A Living As An Artist is the ensemble's response to the festival theme of 'alternative currencies'. Next Door - When Ivan Hansen's neighbour passes away suddenly, Ivan realises he doesn't know anything about him. Intimate storytelling and high-octane physical theatre explore what it is that really connects us. Multi-award winning Danish company Out of Balanz return to Birmingham following their sell-out Edinburgh Fringe run and a critically-acclaimed European tour.
