We have no happiness and it doesn't exist, we only desire it. 1901. Moscow. In a drawing room, on a summer day, three sisters look for a new start. Olga, the eldest. Masha, the middle child. Irina, the youngest. 2019. London. In a drawing room, on a summer day, three sisters look for a new start. Olga, the eldest. Masha, the middle child. Irina, the youngest. World Premiere.
When Father was alive, this place was packed... there was heat, laughter, life. Olga, Masha and Irina long for the glamour of Moscow and to escape life in provincial Russia. But with constant visits by soldiers and dignitaries, by family, friends and 'acquaintances'; with work to be done and marriages to be honoured will they ever be free? A play of life, love, loss, dreams, whimsy, hope - real and false - of moving and of remaining where you are.
