Details
Thought to be Shakespeare's last play - inspired by Chaucer's
Knight's Tale. Close cousins Palamon and Arcite have made a vow of friendship and loyalty to each other but have not reckoned on catching sight of the beautiful Princess Emilia. Their new obsession drives them to fight each other in a tournament presided over by King Theseus. This production transports us to the last days of the First World War, the conflict is over, the nation celebrates but the damage remains. P.O.W. Palamon and Arcite fall for the same woman, and the cycle of violence threatens to begin again. Hell's Belles with an international cast take this ancient story, and create a narrative of wit, beauty and passion, with the last cliff-hanger ending left in Shakespeare.
