Details

Carrie Watts is in the twilight of her life in 1940s Texas, stifled by her daughter-in-law and ineffectual son. Her last wish is to revisit Bountiful, the small Texas town of her youth which she still calls home. She escapes the controlling influence of her family to take the bus back to Bountiful, and during the trip she becomes friendly with a young woman with whom she builds a growing friendship that eventually overshadows the significance of her journey.
