Details
With a soprano, a leading cor anglais player and a string ensemble, Frances Barber will depict the raw emotions of a mother's response to her son's death from street violence and gun crime. The piece draws influences from Michelangelo's marble statue of the same name, which illustrated the moment Christ's body was placed in the arms of his mother. Soprano Claire O'Brien is the lead soprano soloist alongside celebrated cor anglaisist Jessica Mogridge. The three women will be backed by a large string ensemble, collectively portraying the role and response of the mother.
