In the course of this fragmented conversation, both hilarious and poignant, two old friends revive a time when life had flavour, where friends and lovers, now long gone, were vividly alive and even the taste of tobacco was better than now. Beckett uses his archetypal characters to distil an entire world in the sharing of a cigarette.
