The Nest archiveThe Nest is a bothy close to Sgurr Mor in the West Highlands of Scotland, providing sanctuary for climbers and walkers in its warm, welcoming embrace. But when the weather turns famously Scottish, the Nest will also trap them - and not let go. For Colin and Helen, Sgurr Mor is their final Munro (Number 284). They have spent six years ticking them off, six years saving their marriage - and now they have to find out what completion means. The Nest is also where Mac and Jackie meet for the first time: he in the middle of a 'continuous', a single journey of all the Munros, and she without map, compass or sense of direction. And for Innes and Elspeth the mountain has the strongest pull of all because this is where their journey ends. The Nest is the first play by Edinburgh writer Alan Wilkins, and takes a wry, intriguing look at our obsession with taking to the hills, conquering mountains, and collecting Munros.
