Details
The Mystery of Irma Vep is a side-splitting gothic spoof, inspired by the sensationalist and often gruesome Penny Dreadfuls from Victorian England. The play moves from the foggy moors of Mandacrest Mansion, where vampires and werewolves roam, to the hidden tombs of Egypt and then back to Mandacrest for a dramatic and revealing finale.
The Mystery of Irma Vep is a melodramatic masterpiece, which celebrates all things theatrical while sending most of them up with hilarious consequences. Named best play of 1984 by Time and The New York Times.
