The Misanthrope archiveThe Misanthrope is set in the celebrity world of the arts and media. The play revolves around Alceste who hates hypocrisy and whose determination to tell the truth becomes as destructive as his friends' instinct to avoid it. Kit Hesketh Harve (of celebrated comic duo Kit and the Widow) has created a fresh new version of this great European classic. Updated to the 1930's, this passionate production features live classic blues numbers echoing the comedy and poignancy of Moliere's brilliant social observation.
