Life seems unfair when you're a 9-year old girl like Gemma, struggling with history homework when she would rather play football with the boys. But she discovers real hardship when she travels back in time to join the mill girls of the Victorian era. No running water, no McDonalds and worse still - no football for girls! The Millies celebrates Northern Ireland's industrial history, with its close and diverse communities, its harsh working conditions, its technological advances and its legacy for today's generations.
