The Lights archiveThe Lights is a dark journey through an unnamed American city whose structure and society is crumbling. Frederic and Lillian, a young couple, both experience a separate night of the soul after a heated argument splits them up. A modern day Hansel and Gretel, we follow their misadventures as they get lost among the shadows of an urban underworld. Over 24 hours on seemingly lawless streets, they encounter the miscellany of city life from the pavement to the penthouse. The Lights premiered at New York's Lincoln Center Theater in November 1993 and was first performed in Britain at the Royal Court Theatre Downstairs, London in July 1996.
