Details
Lilia Rubin is a senior at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she is pursuing a BFA in Drama. A Boston native, Lilia grew up with a love of theatre and an overwhelming desire to create something out of nothing. She was inspired to write The Fall two years ago when she stumbled upon The Legacy Letters, a text that features letters to the victims of 9/11 written by their family members. Lilia was struck by the fact that many of the letters were written by daughters to their fathers. She wanted to find a way to tell their story, to express in a theatrical setting how this national tragedy affected these young women's sense of self, maturation processes, relationships, spirituality, and outlooks on life - and so The Fall was born. Lilia hopes that this story will continue to resonate with others in the years to come, and that the message of The Fall will endure: We're not moving on - we're moving forward. Northern Stage is collaborating with Northumbria University on the final year BA Hons Performing Arts students' projects.
