Details
The Nuns of St Ursula's Convent, led by Sister Jeanne, accused the Vicar of London of sorcery and had him tried, tortured and burned. On this horrific tale, John Whiting has built a powerful, complex play interweaving the personal dilemmas of Jeanne whose hideous deformities are the scourge of her life and the vicar who fights in vain to practise his beliefs in the face of the political necessities and religious bigotry of the time.
