Spring and Port Wine archiveExamination of the effects of an authoritarian father and husband on his family. Spring and Port Wine is set in a house in the early sixties where the man rules the roost and a woman's place is in the home. Life is carrying on as usual in the Crompton home until one teatime, when everyday life is changed forever over seemingly the most trivial of things - a plate of herrings. Over the weekend each family member is forced to look at themselves and each other, and realise they must make drastic changes if their relationships are to survive.
