Search and Destroy archiveSearch and Destroy is about one man's search for meaning at the end of the 90s. Martin Mirkheim, disillusioned with booking tours of 'Smurfs on Ice' leaves Boca Raton, Florida on a journey to track down Dr Waxling, spiritual guru and author of the self-help book 'Daniel Strong'. Over the space of a few days, Martin navigates his way through a succession of the disaffected and lost. Search and Destroy is a rich psychological drama that, with humour and shocking honesty reveals a society at a crisis with itself. The play received its premiere in California in 1990 and won the Los Angeles Theatre Critics Award for Best New Play. It was later produced on Broadway and received its British premiere at the Royal Court in 1993 directed by Stephen Daldry.
