SPACE: A Herstory and *gender not included archiveSPACE: A Herstory is about queer spaces; the clubs, squats, cruising areas, support groups, the protests, the vigils. It's about places that have gone before us, the memories that live in places that no longer exist. What would queer spaces look like if our history got rewritten? A story created from personal memories, remembered stories told by other people; a mixture of theatre, live-art & sound installation. It seeks to document a history which is at risk of being erased. It's a place for you; it's a space for us to play, clown, drag and celebrate. It'll be a place to come together. *gender not included - This one person non-binary cabaret performance explores gender identity, self-discovery and acceptance, using the personal experiences of writer and performer Melody Sproates. A story told entirely through lip-sync, Melody uses a collage of sound clips ranging from The Prodigy to Piers Morgan to answer questions like What does non-binary even mean? and Are you a boy or a girl? As well as queering all the things that make us us. This show explains how it's hard to navigate a trans experience in a world that doesn't fully understand it when you're also trying to figure it out yourself. Come and have a dance, a laugh and let's climb in and out of the box together.
