Details
After successfully experimenting with Plunderphonics (A form of musical composition or sound collage based on the use of existing audio recordings) on a previous physical theatre show, Composer Matthew Reynolds and Theatre-Maker Simon Jay bring their unique technique to Shakespeare's tragic love-story. Using a backdrop of a modern art gallery, Romeo and Juliet are star-crossed lovers forbidden to be together because of their rivaling families. Clashing and mixing art-styles are interwoven through the story to bring new life to the age-old classic, featuring recreations of artists work as diverse as Klimt, Emin, Pollock and Escher. The brand-new musical composition consists of 100's of archive materials and recordings to convey the Bard's text and meaning. This music will be accompanied by high-energy movement, dance, object manipulation and puppetry for a truly immersive experience.
