Redemption Over Hammersmith Broadway archive"Darkness, austerity and blight - the common lot, my friends, and yet - and yet. An entertainer takes to the stage and faces the people. She gives. She offers. She stands up in the warmth of the light and she gives them something to believe in." In 1950s London, good and evil walk the same streets. A priest falls dangerously in love, a fading comic battles to save his soul and an aspiring actress yearns to break new ground. World Premiere. Developed as part of the Academy's new writing programme, Redemption Over Hammersmith Broadway is an epic, surreal and musical play about faith and how to keep it, moving from the church to the music hall to the streets of Hammersmith.
