Details
Based on Anton Chekhov's 'The Grasshopper'. With the addition of Chekhov's letters and original writing by Linnie Reedman,
Poprygunya becomes the imagined precursor to Chekhov's much loved play 'The Seagull'. This audacious and lovingly created production brings the darkly comedic tragic tale of life, with vivid brush strokes, passion, tragedy and soul stirring live, original music: piano, violins, accordion, balalaika and solo and choral singing. And Vodka...Olga is obsessed with celebrity, her husband with medical science, her lover with himself. In the background her dressmaker watches, crow-like, and weaves them all into her own dark fairytale. Meanwhile, Chekhov watches and weaves them too into his short story. Please note that Poprygunya contains nudity
