Bruce Delamitri, the leading character, is an Oscar contender for his "designer violence" film Ordinary Americans; the next day he finds himself playing host to real-life serial killers Wayne and Scout, with their own agenda in mind. Popcorn rips the veneer off the American dream to find a culture of disposable violence driven by an insatiable media. In a society addicted to murder, it examines whether there is really such a thing as a responsible person. Slightly re-written during 1997. Winner of the 1997 Barclays Theatre Awards Best New Play award. Contains strong language.
