Poisoned Beds archiveDecember 1918. Elizabeth Wells is preparing a concert to celebrate women's suffrage and the end of the Great War. With songs and stories, she traces her family's rise from harbour to High Street, the tragic crisis of Emsworth's oyster industry and, finally, her own struggle to free herself from a cold, ambitious husband. A story of female resilience contesting established power and an evocation of a town's bitter-sweet heritage, Poisoned Beds is a stirring one-woman performance, accompanied by celebrated Havant musician, John Gleadall.
