A lighthearted look at love.
Pleasure and Repentance is a performance of poetry, prose and song about love. It recreates the ancient art of the storyteller and the particular quality of English as the language of the poets. The exploration of love covers the spectrum of life's journey, from childhood and wooing to marriage, disillusionment and last confessions. The anthology ranges from Shakespeare, Sir Walter Raleigh, Donne - to Oscar Wilde, Keats, DH Lawrence and, in song from John Dowland to John Lennon.
Pleasure and Repentance, presented by actors with guitar accompaniment, is a celebration of both the joy and pain of love and the language of love that transcends time itself.
