Ophelia falls in love. Infatuated, she dreams romantic visions of new landscapes and vibrant colour. Then he leaves. Lost, rejected and struggling to make sense of the world, she finds herself standing at the water's edge. Its darkness seems irresistible... somehow beautiful. Quietly echoing Shakespeare's Ophelia, this evocative one-woman show gives us a 21st century woman, grappling with sexuality, mental health and the nature of abusive relationships. Emma White's new play daringly uses the audience to help tell Ophelia's story, whilst scrutinising our obsession with beautifying female tragedy.
