Details
Set during the Great Plague of 1665, this is a compelling and richly textured piece. A wealthy, elderly couple have just two days of quarantine left when the house is invaded by two strangers seeking shelter. The resulting 28 days of enforced house imprisonment cause tension and frustration. In the claustrophobic atmosphere, crises of self and sexuality erupt. Extraordinary acts of innocence and cruelty reveal how bare and tormented human nature can be.
One Flea Spare was first presented at the Joseph Papp Public Theatre, New York, and the Bush Theatre, London, in 1995.
