Omniwrite - Maureen/Kicked in the Shitter/Jimmy Jimmy archiveOmniwrite profiles the newest of new writing for performance. An audience sees 20 minutes of three pieces of new drama, hot off the pen, performed in public for the very first time. Expect a charged atmosphere, a certain swagger, a buzz. Experience the cutting edge of creativity, and preview emerging drama. Maureen - So you wait until you're as old as your parents and your thirty year wedding anniversary before allowing it all to crack... Maureen thought her life was about choices but in reality she's living with a past (and a mother) she doesn't understand and a present she never asked for. Kicked in the Shitter - Depression. Sanctions. Anxiety. Assessments. Self harm. Back to work. Substance Abuse. Bedroom Tax. JSA. AA. DLA. FA. PIP. It's grim up north, they say. It's grim everywhere. Sibling love and sibling dependency; Kicked in the Shitter is a tale of a brother and sister struggling to live with mental health issues amidst the labyrinthine wreckage of a decayed welfare state. This isn't poverty porn; there's nothing sexy about despair. Jimmy Jimmy - One night in 1981, jazz singer Jimmy Scott went to bed in Cleveland Ohio, and the next morning, he woke up 30 years later in the body of Jimmy King, a cabaret singer in Manchester. Thus begins the journey of the two Jimmies, as they struggle towards spiritual redemption.
