South Africa in the 1980s - the fourth decade of apartheid. Sick of seeing lives blighted by an inhumane system that denies his people opportunities and hope, a teacher in a township school thinks he sees a way forward - working in partnership with a white school to show the country another way is possible. But Thami, his star pupil, is tired of compromises and empty promises, and has begun to listen to angrier voices...
