Details
Every year, King Aegeus of Athens must send fourteen children to their deaths at the hands of the Minotaur: a monster, half-bull, half-man who roams the twisted labyrinth below the palace of King Minos of Crete. Only the monster's half-sister, Ariadne, knows the secret of how to tame it, but she is trapped in a maze of her own, unable to free herself from her cruel father. Aegeus waits for a son he no longer believes exists, the son who can kill the Minotaur, release Athens from its debt, and free Ariadne. Will he arrive? And if he does, will he do the right thing? Given a surprising twist, Minotaur is an exhilarating re-telling of the Greek legend that inspires it, full of bold story-telling, live music and song. This brand new play has been created in close consultation with KS2 children and staff, and arrives at Bristol Old Vic after touring to over twenty schools in Sedgemoor.
