Details
Two queens. Two crowns. Two women holding their own in a world dominated by men. The play imagines a meeting between Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots, imprisoned in Fotheringhay Castle, as Elizabeth's advisors - including the first Lord Burghley - clamour for Mary's head. Perfectly capturing the paranoia of the time, the play presents the two cousins locked in a political and personal struggle that only be resolved by one of them paying the ultimate price.
