It is the dead of night and in the aftermath of a tragic accident a group of street kids hold a dying stranger in their arms. He is Vassi; a 27 yr old Serbian asylum seeker. In Vassi the children recognise a fellow outsider, displaced and unwanted. With a vague sense of humanity they set off on a journey in search of a miracle to save his life. Tales of their quest soon capture the imagination of other children and small bands of kids from all over Europe join in the journey. Almost miraculously the authorities remain unaware of their growing numbers until two thousand children march together in search of something better. In the streets police fire water cannons to disperse the so-called 'riot of urchins . As the media transmits dramatic images of a once-peaceful pilgrimage, the world sits up and takes notice. This moving drama is about the naive innocence of youth set against the harsh reality of life.
