Mappa Mundi archiveWhere the world meets itself. The bones of Richard of Holdingham - maker of the Mappa Mundi lay under Hereford for seven hundred years. Children play on his grave. He begins to stir. Why must the map-maker come back from the dead? Will he find the world he drew? Or something even stranger? The Mappa Mundi is a mediaeval world map, hanging in Hereford Cathedral, peopled by fantastical monster, cannibals, griffons and fire-tongued serpents. Inspired by this rich, teeming image, six multi-talented performers from around the world, have brought together their music, dance and story-telling traditions. They take the audience on a kaleidoscopic journey around the world and across the centuries.
