Charles Pentwick's wife believes him to be unfaithful. He goes to the country with a friend to lick his wounds unaware that his jealous wife is following. Through no fault of his own, two attractive young women appear at the house. Mrs Pentwick's arrival brings out the worst in them all. One of the male guests pretends to be the female housekeeper, two of the guests pretend they are married and in an attempt to keep all the duplicity under wraps the men in the house claim they are undercover policemen in the A.B.C.I.D. (the Actor's Branch of the Criminal Investigation). That's when it all turns pear-shaped!
