Libby's Eyes archiveLibby is blind. But she works. And she's a generally functioning adult. Inspirational. For being a functioning adult. And blind. Her life is suddenly made more difficult when she is forced to rely on Cortana, a government-issued audio description robot. Cortana is constructed by a well-meaning engineer to describe things without bias, and effectively be Libby's eyes. She's also a bit rude and describes things loudly in awkward situations. But Libby is not a comical heroine of a rom-com. She's blind in a society that hates disabled people, and if she can't learn to accept this way of life, she has few other options. When Libby starts to suspect that Cortana is defective, she has an internal and external battle. Does she try and fix the defect to fit a society that is trying to "fix" her? Or is there a bigger problem with a society that needs fixing and with her blind father giving up and depriving her of a role model, can she do it alone? Narrated by a sassy AD (egotistical, condescending but always accurate) Libby's Eyes examines what it is to be disabled in today's society and the problems of viewing it through the non-disabled gaze.
