Lags archive'Ever seen a bunch of crabs in a bucket? One of them starts to climb out and the others drag him back' Eva, an actor, arrives in an all male prison to work with five inmates. The group includes Burdock, serving eight years for armed robbery, the silent and damaged Evans, and the seriously weird Skinner. Prison Officer Catesby, the only other female, provides little support. Verbally and physically intimidated, Eva and her deeply held beliefs face an unexpected attack. LAGS is about fear of loneliness and change, about isolation, and the courage to be different. About the games we play when we're scared and the need for true 'mates'. The language is muscular and sentimentality free, but the play is extremely sophisticated and theatrically adept. LAGS also has great clarity and humour - albeit dark.
