Pauline Melville : 02Dec21: Star RatingStar RatingStar RatingStar Rating
Whenever you see a Jude Alderson production you know that Bohemia still lives in London. La Ronde is no exception. Fluid, vivid and surreal it moves easily from music to dialogue exploring themes of lo veless attraction with glancing reference to faith, same sex encounters and, above all patriarchy. The setting could be anywhere the rich inhabit - from Mexico to Manhattan via Dubai with a strong emphasis on the class difference between master and servant. It was refreshing to see a production where - true to life - there is no need to tie up loose ends of a plot. The acting was excellent especially from Georgia Forde but the whole company was relaxed and assured, not to mention talented. Altogether a lovely evening with good music.
