Details
Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train by Stephen Adly Guirgis is an emotionally devastating search for morality and grace within the cynicism and daily degradations of the US penal system. It is a play which examines notions of faith and despair, and demonstrates that, even in the midst of injustice and brutality, there exists a motivating desire to prove oneself worthwhile. Guirgis' muscular use of language, imbued with poetry and passion, opens up a world of alienation and redemption not often seen on stage. This production by the Labyrinth Theatre Company, co-founded by Seymour Hoffman, was a hit both off-Broadway and in Edinburgh. It is Seymour Hoffman's second collaboration with the playwright, the first being IN ARABIA WE’D ALL BE KINGS, voted one of the Top Ten Best Plays of 1999 by Time Out New York.
