Details
Jerk is a strange, poetic, funny and sombre retelling of the crimes committed by American serial killer Dean Corll. With the help of teenagers David Brooks and Wayne Henley, Corll murdered more than twenty boys in Texas in the 1970s. Written by Dennis Cooper, Jerk is re-staged as a solo performance for puppeteer Jonathan Capdevielle. In a compelling performance, Capdevielle plays the accomplice David Brooks, who learns the art of puppetry through which he begins to accept responsibility to the crimes. He creates a show that reconstructs the murders and performs it to a class of psychology students - a role that the audience assumes. Capdevielle uses disarmingly innocent glove puppets to recreate moments of human brutality that merge sexuality, violence and black humour in a forceful piece of theatre. Although this clip is in Spanish, the performance as part of manipulate will take place in English. This performance contains material that is not suitable for under 18s
