Icarus is a story about strapping on wings and taking flight. A story about what it means to be ambitious and a little bit reckless. A story about how small towns respond to big dreams. It's a story told by people and by communities, about the flights and the falls, the successes and the failures. Icarus is a promenade production journeying around each town. The performance will start in a church, parade through the town and culminate in a knees-up in a local pub. Along the way there will be singing and celebrating, local stories and flights of fancy (dress for the weather). Drawing together local choirs, musicians, crafts folk, performers, makers, doers, groovers and shakers - expect more and more participants as it travels across the town. Commissioned by York Theatre Royal, multi-award winning theatre and company and band Fine Chisel have teamed up with four Yorkshire market towns to create a remarkable new piece of work.
