France 1959. Three veterans from the First World War are vigorously combating the boredom of life in a home for retired soldiers. There is a plan to break out. Crazy? Of course. Comical? Frequently. Heroic? Well, Gustav is an agoraphobic, Henri sane but lame and Philippe, among other frailties, is prone to passing out. Nevertheless, in their own way, heroic they are. The question is: will their military know-how and crackpot enthusiasm lead to success? The answer is touching and unexpected.
