Hancock's Last Half Hour archiveTony 'the lad himself' Hancock was known as the hero of East Cheam. For eight years his army of 15 million fans tuned in to Hancock's Half Hour every week between 1954 and 1962. In the summer of 1968, alcoholism and the break up of his second marriage led to Hancock's death. Alone in his Sydney apartment, Tony took his own life, explaining in his final note, "Things seemed to go wrong too many times." Hancock's Last Half Hour offers a tragic insight into the last lonely moments of one of Britain's best loved comics.
