Details
Folk tales of demon lovers and devilish bridegrooms have been told across Europe for centuries. The name Bluebeard was first coined in a collection of fairy tales by Charles Perrault in the 17th century and became the precursor of modern cinematic horror - a killer, driven by psychotic rage, leaves a trail of abject victims - until the final intended victim saves herself. For this new stage version, we draw on Gaelic, Spanish, English and Italian versions of the story for inspiration.
