Details
The Life and Times of Joseph Grimaldi is the story of English clowning and comedy: Grimaldi was the greatest pantomime artist of all time and as a result, every clown is now known as Joey in his honour. The story is based on 'The Memoirs of Grimaldi edited by 'Boz - the pen-name of a youthful Charles Dickens, who was an admirer of his work alongside other Regency celebrities such as Lord Byron and the Prince Regent himself. It is a lively, colourful tale, full of humour, history and emotion. The show is energetic and fun, suitable for all ages (from 9+). With live musical accompaniment, energy and slapstick, it depicts the story of English comedy for the last 200 years: connecting Royston Vasey, Monty Python and music hall to the Georgian era of the late eighteenth Century.
