Adapted from the diaries of John Meyer.
Garland, The Unsung Years is a dramatisation of the unique source material to be found in John Meyer's
Heartbreaker: Two Months With Judy (1983), a memoir which chronicles his brief affair with Garland in late 1968. This engaging raconteur and pianist, brings Judy to life in a series of scenes and anecdotes based on authentic events and transcripts of genuine conversations had with Judy. The production even contains songs he wrote especially for Judy, during the time he was her lover and manager. Because he never married Garland, Meyer's importance in her life is often overlooked. This production challenges the audience to ask: is this the man that might have saved Judy Garland?
