Gaia Global Circus archiveBruno Latour turns to theatre for the first time in his career to explore a question intrinsic to his life long research - can humans feel an emotional response to climate change? Played out beneath a suspended silk canopy, the work considers the effect of scale on our emotional responses to ecological disaster, with the aim of using theatrical form to explore the subject in a more personally affecting way. Written by Pierre Daubigny, a humanities professor at the prestigious Ecole Normale Superieure the work serves as an experiment in human engagement and public discourse, and has been created through collaboration with a philosopher, a playwright, artists and researchers. Following concepts laid out by Latour, Daubigny developed the script through workshops with directors and performers trained at the Jacque Lecoq school in Paris, while Latour continued his study into the subject. Numerous meetings between the play's artistic team and several researchers in climate science took place throughout the show's development. Running time 1hr 30mins. Age 7+
