An inspirational night of new performances from theatre-makers working across art forms and between genres.
Girl from Ipanema - Space, the final frontier?or is it? From award winning theatre maker Georgia Murphy comes an epic sci-fi adventure that questions the very meaning of life. Follow Nadjaska the hapless potato farmer-come-astronaut as she fails, falls and floats her way through outer space. Yes, there will be wormholes, yes there will be asteroids and yes?there will be? a giant human finger? Or a cardboard box, she hasn't decided yet.
Many Years from Now - High Hearted Theatre are?Gemma?Kerr?and Marcelo Dos Santos.? In their work they explore the relationship between the performer, the audience, and the space the work happens in.? They create original work, usually for non-conventional theatre spaces, with an emphasis on narrative and new writing. This is a piece of work about ageing, legacy and memory.? Their piece will involve some performance, some conversation, and possibly some games. They are a director and a writer but this time they are putting themselves on stage and are not quite sure how that's going to turn out.
The Frog Princess Punked - Crazed Russian fairytale meets punk rock! Storyteller Sally Pomme Clayton, musician Georgia Kalogeropoulou and drummer Dawn Rose embark on a provocative collaboration ? combining rhythms and noise of punk with blazing narrative. A lush fairytale reveals the dangers of annexing the wild, and the wisdom of liberating the female. In a soundscape of spoken word, electric guitar, songs, poetic language and rock beats, a collage of images and shadowy figures are created and manipulated by digital artist Fotios Begklis. Urban meets forest.Life meets death. Baba Yaga meets Koschey the Deathless! A punk fairytale for adults!
