J M Barrie's
Dear Brutus (originally written in 1917) is both a whimsical comedy and an explosion of the cruel and dangerous side of relationships. Set in the Edwardian era, and with echoes of
A Midsummer Night's Dream with its woodland setting, Midsummer's eve and Shakespearean references,
Dear Brutus is the perfect companion piece to the 1596 story of love, fairies, potions, mischief and theatrical mayhem.
Dear Brutus tells the story of Lob - an ancient old man, who invites a group of guests to stay in his house on Midsummer's Eve. The guests are told of a mysterious wood which only appears once a year and their sense of adventure leads them to go in search of it and experience their lives as if they had a second chance.
