Details
Early in his career Chekhov wrote a number of short comedy pieces which were very successful in his lifetime but are less well-known now. Three actors from Bridge Theatre Company (Richard Derrington, Mark Carey and Dani Carbery) present three of the plays, in an entertaining evening which showcases their virtuosity, and glimpses the dramatist's later preoccupations - life on the estates, squabbling landowners, unlikely romances, and the theatre itself. In this new adaptation by director Alison Sutcliffe, with sound by Andrea J Cox, we are taken into the world of the plays by one old actor, who appears in The Proposal and The Bear, then finally looks back on his life in the rarely performed playlet Swan Song.
